Senior Electrical Design Engineer

£42 - £50 per hour Annual rate increase, interesting projects

Senior Electrical Design Engineer - To £50 p/h

With an order book stretching into mid-2025 this MEP Design Consultancy are now looking for an additional contract Senior Electrical Design Engineer for their London office.

Staff welfare is at the forefront of their values, so it doesn't matter if you receive an hourly rate or an annual salary, you are still considered to be their most valued assets.

Having visited their office earlier today, I was really impressed with the quality of the fit out, the spacious desks, excellent communal facilities, and the buzz that the office had about it. It's modern but not too corporate, busy but not too full on and the staff were all interacting and chatting rather than being glued to a screen.

As a Senior Electrical Design Engineer, you'll be given one or two projects to lead at a time; and be trusted to just get on with what you need to do to keep them moving forward. You'll consult directly with the client and lead projects from RIBA Stages 2 to 4.

You'll be expected to be able to lead projects independently, however when you need help, a second opinion or advice; you can just their Electrical Technical Director.

You'll get to work on CAT A and CAT B commercial offices, light industrial buildings, hotels, and high-end residential developments across central London.

Benefits

  • Up to 40 hours a week (their standard week is 37.5 hours)
  • Ongoing contract, some of their other contract staff have been there for over five years.
  • Annual rate review / rate increase.
  • Flexible working hours.
  • Hybrid working, option of working from home two (2) days a week.

Plus, they will also cover your gym membership; or another health and well-being activity, as they prioritise employee health and well-being.

Established by an entrepreneurial individual who become disillusioned working for a large corporate consultancy; this consultancy offers a unique working environment. They actively see to make the built environment a better and safer place for all future generations; and provide transparent, honest, and clear advice to their clients. They remain committed to providing the best environment for their employees and providing the very best, honest advice for their clients. This approach keeps things simple and refreshingly honest.

As the lead Building Physics Engineer, you'll be involved in meaningful projects. Current projects include schools' universities, mixed-use developments, commercial offices, theatres, leisure centres.

You'll interact and collaborate with the team of PH, Electrical and Mechanical Engineers and design innovative, Net Zero Carbon buildings. You'll produce energy strategies and promote the use of automation and digital engineering to improve the way they approach building performance engineering.

And when you do produce a new tool, or a better way of working or a new service; you'll be supported and backed by the directors to develop it further. And you'll retain full intellectual property rights and reap the financial rewards of this new tool, product or service.

  • Additional bonus for developing a new service, new tools, new plug ins, or more efficient ways of working.
  • Hands on mentoring and support from the Founding Directors.
  • Ability to work remotely from abroad for up to two weeks at a time.

Job 3571

list Principal Mechanical Design Engineer

£65000 - £80000 per annum Stable

Principal Mechanical Engineer - To £80K Package - Data Centres

Sometimes things just feel right.

And that's exactly the impression I got when I met with the Directors of this global, Data Centre Design Consultancy based in London earlier this week.

As soon as you walk in their brand-new office, everything just feels right.

The warm welcome from the Directors and Associates, the stunning office overlooking Finsbury Circus and the overall office vibe, it all just felt right.

With offices in London, UAE and Europe they have worked hard over the past 10 years to become one of the leading data centre design consultancies. Their order book ranges from 50MW to 500MW hyperscale facilities on behalf of the world's leading colo's, tech and media companies.

Their team in London consists of technically robust and commercially aware engineers. Some have worked for both contractors and consultants; and others have worked for Data Centre end user clients. This puts them in a unique position and clients love the fact these engineers understand how data centres are funded, designed, built as well as how they operate and how they are maintained.

They are looking for an additional Principal Mechanical Design Engineer who wants to have a big impact in the team. Someone who enjoys autonomy, leading projects and liaising with clients. Someone who has a good attention to detail, can manage their own time and wants to really make their mark with the rapidly changing space that is mission critical engineering.

You'll be rewarded with a salary up to £80K, pension, private health insurance, a hybrid policy of two to three days a week in the office, annual bonus and weekly knowledge sharing and collaboration meetings.

Requirements

  • Currently working as a Senior Mechanical or Principal Mechanical Design Engineer.
  • Previous experience designing computer rooms, satellite equipment rooms, server rooms, data centres, labs, clean rooms or trading floors etc.
  • Keen interest in HVAC and emerging cooling technologies.
  • Willing to work from the office two to three days a week.

If you like continuous innovation, technology, complex engineering challenges and exposure to cutting-edge solutions, then please apply or get in touch.

Electrical Design Engineer

£45000 - £60000 per annum Package

Electrical Design Engineer - To £60K Package

Working closely with the two Chartered, Electrical Associates you'll benefit from working on a diverse range of projects from concept to construction.

Although they are a small to medium sized Building Services Consultancy, most of their employees (including the Directors) have come from much larger practices such as Arup, Mott McDonald, Waterman, and WSP.

Why is this relevant to me you might ask?

It's relevant because it means they are still able to secure the large scale and iconic projects, and the Directors understand and value the importance of providing good training and mentoring to all employees.

As an Electrical Design Engineer, here you'll get involved in projects such as hospitals, commercial offices, listed buildings, MoD training grounds, luxury hotels and residential developments across London.

You'll enjoy working as part of a close knit, supportive and friendly team of engineers who socialise weekly, and attend a monthly catch-up breakfast at the end of each month. They also go away together every year for a long weekend overseas and genuinely care about the mental health, well-being, and professional development of every employee.

They also recognise and reward hard work and provide two yearly bonuses to acknowledge their employees, as well as all the standard benefits such as 25 days leave, pension, hybrid working, payment of professional memberships and the opportunity to undertake a MSc or further training.

Their business model is built on quality, care, and innovation, and as a result they continue to secure virtually all their work via recommendations or repeat business. All Directors remain actively involved on projects from concept to handover and take a personal interest in ensuring they are attracting, developing, and retaining the rising stars within the business.

Given the nature of the role, it's likely that you are Degree qualified, have at least three years' experience in Building Services and are working towards or are least have the aspiration of becoming a Chartered Engineer. You should be able to design and deliver a project from feasibility through to post occupancy with constant supervision and should take pride in the work you produce.

Overall, a rare opportunity to join a solid, Engineering led business and be instrumental in its future direction and success.
