Electrical Design Engineer - Birmingham - To £55K including £6K travel allowance

Due to growth across the West-Midlands they are now looking for a reliable Electrical Design Engineer, to be seconded directly to a major government organisation.

The role

As a key member of a multi-disciplinary design team (consisting of architects, MEP engineers and technicians) you'll enjoy a diverse role. No two days will ever be the same, as you'll wear multiple hats including designer, design manager, technical authority, project manager or peer reviewer.

You'll get involved in a broad range of projects including complex refurbishments and large-scale new build developments. You'll see projects from feasibility, design, to construction phase and be able to use the lessons learnt on each project to make the next project even better.

In addition to a generous salary of up to £50K, they offer 7% pension, 27 days annual leave, a discretionary annual bonus (typically 5% - 7.5%) ongoing CPD, and a travel allowance of £6K.

As an early supporter of hybrid working, this will be a largely remote / home-based role; as most of their M&E Design Team attend an office once a week.

Requirements:

  • 3 years' experience as an Electrical, Building Services Design Engineer.
  • Awareness of BREEAM, Building Regulations and British Standards.
  • Able to obtain IEng or MIET or CEng status.
  • Able to work in the UK without the need to be sponsored.

You'll also help upskill the team and provide clients with an unmatched level of service and quality of project delivery.

    You'll continue to lead by example and encourage the use of AI, Digital tools, and automation to improve the quality and detail of the projects that you will deliver.

    Key requirements

    • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Building Services, Architectural and Environmental Engineering or equivalent.
    • At least eight years' experience in the built environment, working for a consultancy.
    • Good appreciation of sustainability and net zero carbon design.
    • Ability to mentor and develop multidisciplinary professional teams.
    • Comfortable leading teams and engaging with clients.
