Senior Mechanical Building Services Engineer - Technical Conservation - to £53,000 Home Working 26% Pension & 36 Flexible Hours

Human Capital Solutions are looking for an individual passionate about preserving and enhancing England's historic buildings. An experienced Senior Mechanical Building Services Engineer with the technical expertise to help implement sensitive approaches in building services engineering for both listed and non-listed buildings.

Working from home or in any of their UK offices with an existing M&E team that specialises in the building services upkeep and retro fit of historic and listed buildings. This team set the standards and provide specialist technical advice on all aspects of building services within the historic built environment.

They achieve this by creating and advocating technical policies, standards, and best practices founded on evidence, offering specialised guidance to those responsible for the preservation of the historic environment.

Working with UK wide planning authorities, you will provide expert technical advice on building services engineering for listed and non-listed buildings on a mixture of grant-aided projects, casework advice, and external commissions across a wide range of estates and portfolios. Identifying problems, recommending actionable design solutions, and supervising the implementation of engineering schemes.

The successful Senior Mechanical Building Services Engineer, will also have the opportunity to play a pivotal role in the team's applied research programmes, evaluating data and providing innovative solutions, whilst ensuring the programme adheres to professional standards. As part of this role, you will also have a real input into the funding applications for research that is of interest to you.

Working across low and zero carbon technologies to help decarbonise the UK's historic environment, you will use your expertise to provide engineering solutions that will make the buildings more sustainable without compromising their historical value.

The Senior Mechanical Building Services Engineer will also in due course, have the opportunity to represent the team on external committees regarding the historic built environment and raise the profile of the work they do via lectures, webinars, and public speaking.

    Key requirements

    • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Building Services, Architectural and Environmental Engineering or equivalent.
    • At least eight years' experience in the built environment, working for a consultancy.
    • Good appreciation of sustainability and net zero carbon design.
    • Ability to mentor and develop multidisciplinary professional teams.
    • Comfortable leading teams and engaging with clients.
