Intermediate Electrical Design Engineer - London Property Consultancy - to £44,000 c.10% Bonus Package.

What you'll do:

We work exclusively with one of the world's leading Property Consultants, who advise on all aspects of commercial property to help their clients realise the true value of their buildings and/or estates.

Over the last decade they developed a fully functioning, in-house M&E Consultancy that feeds of the M&E work that occurs across their client's buildings and portfolio's - full Project Management & Detailed Design (stages 0-7).

Uniquely, they have access to their own client base and do not have to competitively tender for projects, resulting in a less pressurised environment and providing the financial resources to recruit into the M&E team when needed rather than expecting employees to shoulder more pressure and work excessive hours.

Essentially, a client-side role that will give you direct access to clients, working on the client's behalf as part of the client team as the client's representative. Offering you direct access to clients thinking and an unprecedented insight into the clients psyche and the drivers behind commercial property ownership.

They have an established team of experienced M&E Engineers, from which to continue your leaning and development. There is structured training for all employees to CEng and a clear route of progression.

The earning potential is in excess of that in design consultancy, with a great salary and an excellent package, including annual bonus of circa 10% of salary and opportunities for CPD and career growth that are exponential.

    If you are a Mechanical (Building Services) Design Engineer with at least four years' experience in HVAC Design, this is your chance to pivot into a dedicated MEP Design Manager role.

    You'll be involved in high-impact projects that benefit society and set new industry standards in design, sustainability and innovation.

    Rather than just developing the properties and then passing them on, this property developer and investor takes a long-term view. They purchase, develop, build, operate and maintain all of the buildings within their portfolio and take pride in the quality of all of their developments.

    How they will support you

    Fully supported by a hands-on, technically superb and commercially aware, Senior MEP Manager you'll enjoy a fast-paced, challenging and diverse role.

    This Senior MEP Design Manager also switched from a career in building services consultancy to a developer and will be there every step of the way to ensure your learning is fast tracked. They will pass on all their experience and lessons learnt; to ensure your transition from consultancy to property developer will be seamless.

    What a typical day will look like

    You'll use your HVAC design skills to review and approve external consultants designs and oversee projects from RIBA Stage 2 to Stage 7. You'll be responsible for managing specialist subcontractors, managing the design team and overseeing the commissioning process of the installed MEP services.

    Rather than just HVAC design, here you'll prepare specifications, approve technical drawings, carry out value engineering proposals of consultant's designs, carry out tender analysis and maintain relationships with manufacturers and external consultants.

    You'll split your time across multiple different landmark London developments such as hotels, commercial offices, retail stores, prime residential developments and leisure facilities.

    You'll attend these projects regularly (all in central London) and flag up any risks or potential delays to the Senior MEP Design Manager; and ensure projects are delivered on time and to budget.

    What you'll need to be considered for this MEP Design Manager role.

    • Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services or equivalent.
    • At least four years' experience in HVAC design.
    • Previous experience working on the latter RIBA stages, ideally experience working with contractors or developers.
    • Good communication skills; able to build rapport with clients and colleagues.
    • Able to manage time effectively as you will be overseeing 3 to 5 live projects at any one time.
    • Able to work in the UK without the need to be sponsored.

Due to ongoing growth, they are now looking for a standalone Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to play a pivotal role in establishing and growing their new HVAC design division.

    With at least four years' experience working within the built environment; you'll use your own initiative and experience to drive projects forward. However, you will have the support, guidance, and input from the M&E Director whenever you need it.

    And in addition to HVAC Design, you'll also can develop new skills in client advisory services such Pre-Acquisition Surveys, TDD (Technical Due Diligence), Condition Surveys, PPM (Planned Preventative Maintenance) and Dilapidation Surveys.

    Requirements

    • Degree qualified and preferably working towards becoming a member of CIBSE or the IMechE.
    • Previous experience working for a building services, multi-disciplinary engineering, or property consultancy.
    • Previous experience seeing projects through to completion.
    • Digitally savvy and able to use either Hevacomp, IESVe, AutoCAD or Revit.
