Health & Safety Advisor (Construction / Building Services)
Location: Essex
Our client takes great pride in delivering high-quality projects across prestigious residential, financial and commercial headquarters, hotels, and collaborations with leading London restaurateurs.
Step beyond conventional contracting and embrace a key Health & Safety role in a company that prioritises care, competence, and innovation.
The Role:
Reporting to the HSE Manager, you will be working across 7 buildings locally and occasionally on site in London. You’ll play a vital role in ensuring teams operate to the highest safety, environmental, and quality standards. If you're passionate about driving best practices and want to make a real impact in a dynamic, collaborative environment, this is the opportunity for you.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Integrated Management System (IMS), assisting with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 compliance.
- Conduct site visits, audits, and inspections to ensure adherence to best practices in health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
- Assist in drafting and maintaining risk assessments, method statements, and quality plans for high-profile projects.
- Liaise with site teams, project directors, and external auditors to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.
- Support sustainability initiatives, including BREEAM, WELL, LEED, and environmental reporting.
What We’re Looking For:
- 2-3 years of experience in Health, Safety, Environmental, or Quality roles within Construction, Manufacturing, Joinery, or M&E Engineering. A working knowledge of ISO standards and quality auditing is preferred, though full training and support will be provided for candidates from other industries.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.).
- An industry-related qualification such as a NEBOSH Construction Certificate, equivalent H&S qualification, or an Internal Auditor certification for ISO standards is beneficial but not essential.
If you’re ready for a hands-on role where you can influence safety culture and quality standards, we'd love to hear from you!
